Another group designer joined together to make the world a little bit better. The "This is what matters to Me project' are introducing themselves on their site:

"Hello world! We are Kharma NYC, a collaborative, cause-driven, lifestyle brand aimed at colliding the worlds of consumption and good deeds.

We are uncontrollably excited to be launching our first project, aimed to bring attention to a amazing lesser known causes/organizations. Coined “This is What Matters to Me”, we asked 9 internationally recognized designers to take a step back from their commercially focused work and create a piece of artwork for an organization and cause that has had an impact on their lives.

The international cast of designers includes Mario Hugo, Non-Format, No Pattern, Emil Kozak, Marta Cerda Alimbau, Gary Fernandez, Keetra Dean Dixon, Grandpeople, and D.kele.

You can see the full line at http://www.kharmanyc.com/"

Personally I think it's great that more and more designers start this kind of projects. I really like the name and the theme of this idea, but I'm not really impressed by the T-Shirts itself, but maybe you like them! Check it over here.

The Amsterdam based company ‘String garderns’ makes these wonderful indoorgardens. These plants are hanging on strings and can be kept inside. I really like this concept, I love the look of it, but I am afraid it’s just not that handy to have. How long can a plant stay alive this way and how the hell am I supposed to give it water? Too bad there’s not very much info on their site! Next time I’m in Amsterdam I am going to visit them and find out!

One of the most populair items in Vice magazine's are the Do's and Dont's which show big fashionmistakes but also fashion-do's. I really like this item because it often makes me laugh!. Anyhow Gavin, the cofounder of Vice magazine and initiator of the i section Do’s and Don’ts, is publishing a book wich comes out tommorow about his obvious passion: Street Boners. Nearly two thousand hilarious and embarrassing hipsters are caught on tape to share their bad taste in fashion. According to Gavin, the only way his book won’t interest you is ‘if you hate eye candy and laughing your ass off’. After he left Vice he started the blog Streetcarnage.com, on this blog he collects pictures of people with a very bad fashiontaste, hilarious to look at! I think this is a perfect follower in the line of streetfashion bloggers who bring out a book!

In case you planned a visit to London soon, this App might be fun! The Museum of London has launched a free iPhone app which brings its extensive art and photographic collections as well as geo tagging and Google Maps to guide users around London where, via the iPhone screen, various historical images of the city appear. You can look into the past of the London, and explore the hidden history of London that surrounds you. You might as well learn something during shopping!

These are Alive shoes, after studying their site I must admit it’s a really modern concept. Alive shoes are eco-friendly and give life to several art installations. Artists are using ALIVESHOES in their projects, these artists are challenging the material source and allowing it to evolve into a new expression - from a simple shoe to an element of artwork, providing each shoe with a glimmering reflection of that moment. Artists have used a specific number of ALIVESHOES in the creation of each work of art. Each ALIVESHOE is given a unique identification number, and a copy of the artist's original sketch is stitched inside the tongue of each shoe. When the artist has completed their work, the installation is deconstructed and each unique ALIVESHOE can be purchased here on their site. Besides being very artsty these shoes are also very eco friendly, they even get painted by hand, so no paint gets wasted! Even paying is very trendy, you have to pay 150 euro but you can choose how much extra you want to pay for the ‘art value’. This extra money will be used to invest in more projects like this. They also made a manifesto with the ideals they have as a company.

Personally i am not a big fan of spiritual stuff, it's just to vague for me... or I'm just too cool :) .
This new ultimate spiritual way from John C. Parkin however is one that fits me very and my believes very well. The 'fuck movement'has a website where you can buy books, t-shirts and other stuff with little life lessons that puts you right on the ground! This is how they discribe their 'fuck it movement': "Saying 'Fuck It' is like massage for the mind - relaxing you, releasing tension, giving up on things that aren't working. John C. Parkin argues that saying Fuck It is a spiritual act: That it is the perfect western expression of the eastern ideas of letting go, giving up and finding real freedom by realising that things don't matter so much (if at all). This is The Fuck It Way. It works very simply: if you're feeling stressed about something, say 'Fuck It'… you feel instantly better." www.thefuckitway.com

Easy does it!

Just discovered this French magazine “Amusement”, it’s a really cool concept!

The time has come for a landmark video game magazine. Transversal, curious, thoughtful : AMUSEMENT redefines the video game magazine with style and precision. Cultural and political references as well as surprising artistic connections provide readers of this thematic quarterly with a unique view of the gaming world. Geared towards those who are passionate about video games and who want reliable and hot off the press information as well as towards amateurs too often disappointed by over-specialized gaming magazines, AMUSEMENT envisions itself as the go-to
magazine for information on the most significant media of this century”.www.amusement.fr.

This really is a refreshing magazine, on their website you can find lots of really cool editorials. It does not only show the ‘ins and outs’ of gaming, but also shows the art and beauty of games. It just looks really good and it really reflects on todays culture!

It isn’t very surprising, but Greenpeace has totally had it with BP. They believe that BP that stands for ‘beyond petroleum’ totally doesn’t fit the multinational anymore and time to rebrand BP ! They ask everybody to help by designing logo’s that show that BP is ‘not beyond petroleum’ anymore! I think it’s really nice to see how much people are contributing and started creating this new ‘not beyond petroleum logo’s'. Watch more logo’s on their site.

This video, called ‘television is a drug’ is made by Beth Fulton. The monolog you hear was written by Todd Alcott for a tv-show, The 90’s. After it was used in this show, the monolog started to live it’s own life, and you can find a lot of different interpretations of this monolog on youtube. The video by Fulton definitely stands out, it’s a hypnotizing, freaky video that drives you mad!

"My thought was, well, if I were a television, what would I say? What does a television want?"
Beth Fulton

At the same time it’s sort of true and confronting. A real must see!

Cool Collector # Editorial Files

After seeing the incredible bodyart from Kim Joon ( see next post) I spotted this editorial which in a way looks like Kim Joons images. Flowerprints all over the image, in some pictures blended on the models. Also the choice of colors shows comparisons with Kim Joons work. The editorial was made for Morning Beauty, shot by Sølve Sundsbø with model Jessica Stam. Watch the whole series here.
