Great Blog concept: Things you can't have

A few days ago I spotted the blog 'things you can't have' by Catherine McEver. I quite a fast scroller and at first I thought 'What te hell is this blog about?'. All kind of Do It Yourself stuff that you can't use for anything! At the same time all that stuff was quite entertaining, so I did what I always do in this kind of situations. I clicked on the button about this blog. Turns out I got it totally right!
'This is an online catalog of impossibilities from Catherine McEver and the Bureau of Common Sense. Think of this as the most relaxing catalog you'll ever peruse. There is nothing to do, nothing to buy, nothing to put on your credit card, nothing to exchange, nothing to give, nothing to get, nothing to own. Nothing in this catalog is for sale. After exploring the reason behind it, I must say I really like this concept! It's actually really creative, it's really experimental and from experimenting you might get inspiration for ideas that are usefull. So making a blog about useless stuff can be very usefull after all! Check it here!

I wish they sold Vixen Magazine in the Netherlands! This is a preview of the next issue Photographed by Photographer Elias Wessel. Aided by stylist Storm Pedersen and art director Sophy Holland, Wessel creates a story of grandiose surrealism starring cover girl Lydia Hearst. If this is just a preview, I can't wait to see the whole issue! I think it looks amazing, especially the hairstyling blows me away! I also like the choice of the locations! Lately I notice that a lot of fashioninspiration comes from pets or farm animals. This work from Tim Flach can also be a good inspiration! Tim Flach is a photographer that mostly photographs animals in their natural habitat. For this serie he took the animals into the studio. A serie of dogs that seem to have some kind of fashionsense. Dogs that look totally overstyled, but they could just be natural! I think Flach made a really beautifull serie. Watch more of his work here.

A little while ago I blogged about a Social Shopping concept from Levi's. This week I discoverd a way of social shopping that goes much further. Fashiolista.com is a social network for girls that get lost in jungle of online shopping. Yes people, luxery problems hurt too! Anyhow, you can make a profile on Fashiolista.com, on that profile you can share fashionitems with other fashiolista's. Your profile becomes a page with several images of fashionitems and when you click on the images you go right to the webstore that delivers the product. When you get more images of fashionitems on your profile, your style gets visible and when other Fashiolista's like your style, you can become fashionfriends and you can follow eachothers new picks. Though this concept is very materialistic it sure can be handy, I browsed trough the site for a while and I must admit I really liked it! Especially for teenage girls who do not live in the city! On the main page you can also see which items are the most populair, so it's also a great space to see what items the target group likes! Where was this site when I was sixteen! :(

Last week I was writing an article for Science of the Time. When I was watching their blog I saw this sculpture and I really wanted to share this with you! What you're seeing is a sculpture fountain of a crucified Mickey Mouse at the Yintai Luxury Mall in Beijing. I think it's very rebelish to put that kind of art in a Luxury Mall, but I love rebelish! I do am curious if they sell less when consumers are confronted with this sculpture when they are shopping!

NEW!! Rich Magazine

These pages come from the new Japanese magazine Rich Magazine. Unfortunately it’s still only printed and available in Japan, but lucky for us there is also a digital edition! I really love the all-over mood of the magazine, it’s cheery, colorful, it look very clean but is very creative. It’s sort of a Japanese version of WAD magazine! I I really believe this magazine offers al lot of inspiration for creative people, so I really really hope this mag will show up in European stores soon!

On the blog of Danny Choo, a Japanes blogger that reports about manga culture, I saw this photo report about a twitter doll gathering. Amongst Japanes Manga lovers it’s a trend to design your own Manga inspired doll and what I really like is that a lot of these people make litlle dolls of themselves. A sort of ‘Mini-Me’s from the Austin Powers movie. Anyhow twitter brought these doll lovers together and that brought a lot of amusing pictures. Watch the whole photo report here.
