Riot's seem to be everywhere lately when you watch the news. Not the most fun events, but they are pretty inspiring! James Cauty also has a big fascinatation for Riots and Protests, his series A Riot inJam Jar proves that! The series contain a big amount of jars with miniature riots. Which riots it are isn't really clear to me, but it really triggers your imagenation. After finishing this small scaled riot world Cauty makes pretty movies from the jar which remind you of a carousel. Pretty impressive! It rejects on the actuality and contributes to the small-scaled-trend. Check out his work here!

When I was little a was a big fan of the Cosby show, just like almost everybody else in the eighties.
Kelly Tucker is probably a big fan too! She devoted a whole project to the Huxtables, or to their sweaters to be precisely. On her blog the Cosby Sweater Project she documents the crème de la crème of Huxtable fashions through the show’s eight seasons. By showing little pictures and a drawing she's creating a wonderful spot of inspiration for 80's lovers. Visit her blog here! Enjoy!

Now ain't this is a original campaign for a kitchen-machine! The concept was developed by the advertising agency: Shalmor Avnon Amichay/Y&R Interactive in Tel Aviv, Israel. I have to admit I am not a total vegatable freak, I rather have it with some meat, pasta of potatoes but watching the vegetables styled like this, in a Margritte, Davinci or Picasso, it makes me hungry!

Last week I posted several posts about knitting, the trend just only began! Here some amazing knitted food creations by Philadelphia-based artist Ed Bing Lee. Evolving into knitting for 25 years, Bing Lee uses the usual macrame to create objects that look like food. It looks very sweet!

Since one year I have a big roofterras in the middle of Rotterdam and we also created a litlle rooffarm. Since spring we've already eaten homegrown lettuce, paprika, red chilli peppers, lot's of herbs and our tomato's, onions, aubergines, grapes and strawberries will soon be ready to eat!
Now farming is a lot easier when you have a garden instead of a terras, because you have to carry all the earth you need to your roof! Plants like potatoes, carrots or mushrooms just don't work out that way!
But for mushrooms there is a pretty cool solution now! Check out the Back To The Roots Mushroom Kit, the package looks amazing and when the mushrooms start to grow I would almost describe it as art!
Back To The Roots is the brainchild of two UC Berkeley students, Alejandro Velez and Nikhil Arora back in 2009 during their final semester ~ they went from investment banking to full time urban mushroom farmers! Most unique about their kits: their oyster mushrooms grow in 100% recycled coffee grounds!
The only thing that's stopping me from ordering it directly is the price. A kit costs $19,95 without shipping, seem a little expensive for a box of mushrooms.

TweetingSeat is an interactive park bench which is designed to explore the potential for connecting digital and physical communities. The bench logs its usage by uploading images of its users and environment to a live Twitter feed, allowing people to interact with it both in person and virtually.
Created to explore the environments in which it is placed and the people whom it encounters, the aim of TweetingSeat is for people and communities to form their own relationship with the object through the way in which they choose to use it.
Each time someone sits down, TweetingSeat uploads an image from two cameras to the Twitterfeed. One camera is located on the bench looking at the surrounding space, and another is located nearby looking at the people who use it.

Anonymous New York performance artists Gill & Jill Bumby provide “Fair and Honest Appraisals of Your Appearance” with nothing more than their manual typewriters and charming wit. It's as simple as it sounds - you stand front and center and they type you a personalized assessment of how they think you look.
They have appeared at prominent art and fashion events for clients including W Magazine, WIRED Magazine, Fiji Water, Levi's, Maxim Magazine, Art Basel Miami, The Armory Show, The Brooklyn Museum, WESC, Diesel, Sigerson Morrison, Ultimat Vodka, and Patron Tequila to name a few. They've also been featured in The New York Times, ELLE, Glamour, V magazine, Time Out New York, the Wall Street Journal, and more.

Really like the kindness and simplicity and honesty factor of their concept! Check out more about the Bumby's here:

Juliana Santacruz Herrera decided the streets of Paris were too gloomy and needed a little fresh touch. With these in mind she came up with the concept of decorating the potholes of the city using colorful strips of fabric. These were placed randomly in shallow breaks and cracks, creating a fun and colorful change in the landscape. The artist’s visual intervention brings a happy touch to the gray streets of Paris and creates a fun and appealing contrast with the dark cement. But what if we were to take this idea further? If you like how this photos look, perhaps you could use them as a source of inspiration when it comes to patching up your own courtyard, patio and so on. Sounds practical?

Traditional methods of advertising often utilize large quantities of paper, water and ink, negatively affecting the earth. Fresh Green Ads emphasizes eco-friendly brand communication by using only natural elements which have a minimal impact on the environment. Their portfolio features “RainCampaign,” as well as crop, sand, ice, water drop, and clean advertising. Conceived by the Amsterdam-based agency, MISTERWILSON, this sustainable method of displaying ad campaigns was used for the Sea Life Scheveningen, in the Netherlands. With most visitors spending the day at Sea Life on rainy days, the agency developed RainCampaign featuring a sidewalk octopus ad that only appears when wet with its tentacles cradling the words: “SEA LIFE laat je niet meer los” (SEA LIFE never lets you go). When the street dries, the octopus disappears. These clever, environmentally-friendly messages last up to eight weeks.

Inspired by the LEGO magazines of his youth, designer Jonathan Robson has developed a new helmet that enhances a child’s reading experience. The space helmet, modeled after the same design that is worn by the LEGO figurines, functions as an audio headset that reads the child the stories as they follow along with the book. Audio files are stored on LEGO-brick USB sticks that plug into the back of the helmet.

Interesting package concept on the Dieline:
"Eggs for Soldiers is a new free-range eggs brand created and developed by Springetts Brand Design Consultants (following the development of the multi-award winning happy egg co. brand), and launched by Noble Foods on 4th April. Springetts had the idea to use eggs, a commodity bought on a weekly basis, to help raise awareness of the Help for Heroes charity through brand association."
"The brand’s name – Eggs for Soldiers – points to a usage suggestion (boiled eggs and toast ‘soldiers’), whilst also communicating its charitable intent. 15p from every pack of Eggs for Soldiers will be donated to Help for Heroes.
The designs for the new brand have a confident colouring, which delivers strong shelf standout, with the woollen weave image giving natural cues, as well as a hint of military uniforms.
“We created the egg medal icon to provide an emotional centre piece for the brand, rooted in its partnership with Help for Heroes,” says Springetts MD, Andy Black. “We wanted to create a brand that would show support for the sacrifice made by the members of all our armed services. Eggs for Soldiers playfully makes the association in its tone and the product, being a commodity bought regularly, makes it effortless for consumers to show their support.”"
