Cool Collector # Design Files

Now I don’t think about the looks of my forks, knives, spoons and glasses daily, but some people might. If you are in desperate need to continuously change the looks of your dining table this invention might be just what you need! These pieces are designed by the supercool French desig collective 5.5. Designers and allow you changing the design of your cutlery while using the same pieces: they propose you the tools, then your mission is to customize it. I love the idea but I wonder if it works in practice… not everything works out great as a tool in your hand!

Food about you - Annecy festival 2010 from Alexandre DUBOSC on Vimeo.

Cool Collector # Food Files

To celebrate the 50th anniversary festival of animation from Annecy 2010, the French artist Alexandre Dubosc made an amazing stop-motion video. I really loved it, lately there is so much attention for designing foods but he really focused on designing the 'preperation' of food. I think it looks really sweet and tasteful!

Cool Collector # Shopping Files

Exciting news for the fans of French pop fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac! He just opened a online store with the new collection for this fall and winter. Now I’m not a big fan of the whole southpark theme but I am pretty excited about the onlinestore. Shipping is free when you order above 150 euro’s … not very hard when you look at the prices ;).

Now this is a simple and effective idea by Hamed Kohan from Iran called 'spread your love' . Hamed is one of the shortlisted design entries from more than 3000 participants in the recent designboom competition,'seoul cycle design 2010', organized in collaboration with seoul design foundation.

the tire design features heart-shaped knobs that create playful tracks on the streets.
a series of corresponding bike racks are distributed throughout the city.

designer's own words:
'simple as love, strong as love.'

If he doesn’t win the contest, I still believe this is a good product, I would love to spread some love on the streets with that bike around here!

Unlogo Intro from Jeff Crouse on Vimeo.

Cool Collector # Brand Files

Just saw this pretty cool idea from Jeff Crouse. He developed the webservice ‘Unlogo’. Unlogo is a web service that eliminates logos and other corporate signage from videos. On a practical level, it takes back your personal media from the corporations and advertisers. On a technical level, it is a really cool combination of some brand new OpenCV and FFMPEG functionality. On a poetic level, it is a tool for focusing on what is important in the record of your life rather than the ubiquitous messages that advertisers want you to focus on.

In short, Unlogo gives people the opportunity to opt out of having corporate messages permanently imprinted into the photographic record of their lives.

I think the filters look just as annoying as the all the brand information, but I really like the thought behind it! Find out more about Unlogo here!
