These beautiful photo’s from the series ‘West African Masquerade’ are made by Phyllis Galembo who photographes all around the globe. For the past 20 years, Galembo has traveled to Nigeria, Brazil, Cuba, Jamaica, and Haiti to photograph the visually stunning costumes worn by traditional priests and priestesses, carnival masqueraders, dancers, and Haitian vodou practitioners. This series were shown during an exposition in the NY Tang museum in 2007. Though the works are not new it’s still very inspiring! In fashion we see a lot of tribalism and African influences, this photo’s really can help people develop new ideas! Watch the whole series here.

NIKE78 is an exciting new project created by Paul Jenkins and inspired by NIKE. Creatives involved will receive a brand new pair of NIKE shoes and will be asked to use sport as inspiration to challenge their function. Lately I’ve seen a lot of nice indoor-garden-concepts, but there were just too many to blog about them all individually. That proves we are with certain speaking of a indoor-garden trend or maybe a indoor-garden-overload! Here are some of my favorites.

Cool Collector # Editorial Files

Here we have a nice controversial editorial from Greg Kadel who takes inspiration from Catholic nuns and schoolgirls with this naughty spread from Numéro’s June-July edition. The styling was done by Patti Wilson. This is absolutely not a brave editorial with images that might shock people. They aren’t afraid to push the limits. via

Cool Collector # Food Files

This is a very interesting new Japanese snack! Zombie Meat, especially made for the big group of comic and animationfans in Japan. Dried blue meat, which tastes like peppered beef jerkyit doesn't seem very attractive to me! This exquiste snack is only available in Japan for about $4,50.

Guerilla gardening is not exactly new anymore. At first it seemed cool, a little exciting, a bit underground and alternative. Making seedbombs in the kitchen, kind of creative. It has something romantic. But that’s over now with this ready-made seedgrenades, ‘throw and grow’. You can buy these grenades here for 12 pounds. For 12 pounds you can make a lot more seedbombs in your own kitchen!

I Love this initiative 'the conflict kitchen' based in Pittsburg in Germany. They only sell food from countries that are in conflict with the USA. This is their story:

"Welcome to Conflict Kitchen’s first iteration, Kubideh Kitchen. Conflict Kitchen is a take-out restaurant that only serves cuisine from countries that the United States is in conflict with. The food is served out of a take-out style storefront, which will rotate identities every 4 months to highlight another country. Each Conflict Kitchen iteration will be augmented by events, performances, and discussion about the the culture, politics, and issues at stake with each county we focus on.

Kubideh Kitchen is an Iranian take-out restaurant that serves kubideh in freshly baked barbari bread with onion, mint, and basil. Developed in collaboration with members of the Pittsburgh Iranian community, the sandwich is packaged in a custom-designed wrapper that includes interviews with Iranians both in Pittsburgh and Iran on subjects ranging from Iranian food and poetry to the current political turmoil." www.kubidehkitchen.com

I absolutely adore this photo series ’Ethnic’ by Denis Rouvre who lives and works in Paris. It’s not only about ethnicity but also about religion and sex. The composition of the images is amazing and I love the psycho effect of the color use! The prints painted on the models body's are really inspiring! On his website are a lot of very interesting works. All his work seems to be influenced by cultural and social circumstances. Titles like ‘addict’, ‘broken faces’and ‘eden’ speak for themselves. Watch more of his work here.
