I just love this lookbook from Dimepiece, the styling is amazing, simple, rebelish and very contemporary! Here 'the story behind the story'.

This is a world of polarity. Light and dark, maturity and innocence, pleasure and pain. With that concept at hand, designer’s Ashley Jones and Laura Fama of DimePiece asked themselves, what would a collection of these conflicting components look like? The answer is in Spring 2011 collection, DimePiece’sSave No Prayer. Now in its ninth season installment, DimePiece brings to light a darker side of the aesthetic fence and continues to convey concepts that reflect the empowerment of women in a deliberately darker, tainted manner. This season the designers had a particular and uncompromising vision of translating a woman who is aggressive, yet feminine, angelic yet full of sin.

In Paris, the DesignPack Gallery (dedicated to art and design of packagings) lauched an event to inform people on the way to recycle plastic bottles. In several places of the city, they made installation of christmas trees and other decorations only made with plastic bottles. At the same time, they inform people on the way these products are recycled (and how many of them are recycled today, what can be done with them…)

The complete installation needs only 3 546W to shine (equivalent to a switched-on TV during 2 4hours). In addition to this public event, the DesignPack Gallery also sells a cardboard structure to make one at home, collecting your own bottles (+the one of your neighbours and family).

How cool are Alex Fischer digital collages !? He composes his figures and landscapes by assembling a variety of visual and conceptual sources. Keeping in mind that ideas of the future are inevitably the fastest to change, Fischer maintains that human nature is a fallible and susceptible state. His series ‘Smarter Today’ offers a human view of futurist landscapes, a view that explores the ideologies and projections of society through the lens of contemporary art.

Technological advancement and machine generations have vastly outpaced the tradition of the average human life. As a society, we have adapted to accept the pace at which vast differences and contrasts will influence our modes of being. The subjects and characters of ‘Smarter Today’ are reflections on the syncretism that created them. Their exterior identities have been extricated to include all of their precursors. They are heterogeneous and intermingled with their environments, yet maintain their subjectivity in the face of a post-structuralist world.

Artist Paul Destieu created a common Windows error that using 500 copies of his “My Favourite Landscape” print.
"My Favourite Landscape is made of 500 70 x 50 cm offset prints. It is a reappropriation of the well known Windows XP desktop : Green Hill. Taking advantage of the weakness of the computer, it sets the common bug out of its context, on a wall, expending it to a much bigger scale. The famous picture finds a new landscape shape out of its usual frame.
"

I had the experience of that awfull desktopimage multiplying itself on my desktop until my computer was totally crashed and I really think it’s much more beautiful on a wall in gallery then on my desktop! I see more and more anti-pc artworks comming up, I guess it will be a hard year for microsoft!

Converse introduced 'the sampler 'app. With this app consumers can see directly how the sneakers look on their feet by using augmented reality. I really love the idea, it's simple but in a way usefull. Too bad the app isn't availbe in the Dutch I-tunes store yet.

"We'll keep this simple. We like to try things out. It's the only way we'll ever really know what works. We created The Sampler so you can try things on. The Sampler transforms Converse on to your feet in seconds. If you like what you see, you can buy it right there on the spot."-converse
