On Highsnobiette there is a lot of attention for Indian designer Kali Arulpragasm and her site Superfertile. She has a Indian/Tamil background and works in London. She designs jewelry inspired by social matters in west Asia. I really love it and really recommend to visit her site! On the Asian blog Masala Chai you can also find a very inspiring interview with Kali. Read it here.

Now Lego and Chanel are very popular ingredients when it comes to pop-art. This lego-chanel-lipstick is designed by Dee and Ricky and completely useless, unless you want to use it as decoration. In that case you can go to their blog and send them a e-mail. Personally I think it’s easy to reconstruct this lipstick with the bricks in my own old legoboxes , the only brick I miss is the Chanel brick, maybe branded lego bricks is a product with more potential.

Now this is a original idea to do something creative with your old magazines. Too bad it probably isn’t that easy! The maker Antonio Chiesa, has a whole collection of all kinds of amazing ‘magazine mosaics’on his site. All reconstructed famous and iconic pop images you can easy recognize! I really love it! The series above are all made of old Vanity Fair issues, on his site you can also find a lot of collages constructed from other elements .Check them all on his site!

# Editorial Files

shoots Kristen McMenamy in a BP oil spill inspired spread entitled Water & Oil for the August 2010 issue of Vogue Italia. According to a lot of the talking heads in main stream media, this shoot is the most controversial thing since Roe v. Wade (Fox News). For those who don't know anything about Roe v. Wade:

Roe v. Wade is the historic Supreme Court decision (1973) overturning a Texas interpretation of abortion law and making abortion legal in the United States. The Roe v. Wade decision held that a woman, with her doctor, could choose abortion in earlier months of pregnancy without restriction, and with restrictions in later months, based on the right to privacy.

Now I don't really believe this editorial comes close to the controversy this Roe v. Wade thing may caused! So Fox News is as usual tottaly overreacting if you ask me.... but I'm dutch so things like Fox News always look scary conservetive to me! I think it's a really cool editorial and it's totally Steven Meisel!

I really love this idea from Cool Material Blog:

"So Facebook wasn’t around when some of the most calamitous and significant events in history went down (literally, in the case of the Titanic). But if it had been, our friends at Cool Material have envisioned the sort of disarmingly blasé responses they would have received."

A little while I saw this Nike add for the first time, but when I started to look further some sources were saying this add is fake. So now I am a little confused! Anyhow reather it's published or not it was made by Nike. I really don't know what to think about this whole big butt controversy, I mean it's good to keep some focus away from the überskinny models. But the text is just annoying and makes women look totally stupid: “that herds of skinny women away from the best deals at clothing sales". How shallow! Anyhow to find out more about all the speculations around the Big Butt issue I suggest you read this article on highsnobiette, they did research with sources and that kind of stuff ;)

This work is made by Chad Wys and carry's the quite logical name 'Brutalized Delight Art'. He gives art that already excists his own touch. Though this own touch doesn't seem to be a touch wich requires a lot of talent, the work looks quite brightfull to me! If it's not art, at least his work gives some great inspiration for decorating the home! So buy some paint, go to the local 2hand store or grandma and brutalize your own old stuff!
Watch more brutalized art here.

# Photography Files

Art photographer Tierney Gearon does not use photoshop! You might think that you can achieve these effects using the softwares’ (layers+transparency) really easily, but the Atlanta-based photographer is a bit more old school then we would imagine. Gearon does not use anything digital in her art. To create this “Explosure” series she exposes her film using two completely different scenarios and creating these beautifully double exposed ‘pieces of art’. I mean, I feel comfortable calling this Art, especially since it is featured in the Phillips de Pury catalogs.
